The different type of beam are following :

1. cantilever beams: A beam having its one end fixed or built-in and the other end free to deflect. There is no deflection or rotation at the fixed end.

Cantilever Beam

2. Fixed beam : A beam having both of its ends fixed or built-in.

3. Simply supported beam : A beam made to freely rest on supports which may be knife edge or rollers. The term 'freely supported' implies that these supports exert only forces but no moments on the beam.

4. Overhanging beam : A beam having one or both ends extended over the supports.

5. Continuous beam : A beam provided with more than two supports.

further such a beam may or may not have overhang

Its different types are following

    1. Continuous beam without overhang.

    2. Continuous beam with over hang on one right side.

    3. Continuous beam with overhang on both side.

    4. Continuous beam with overhang on one lift side.

6. Propped Cantilever beam : A beam having one fixed and the other with a prop or support with or without an overhang.
